The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing chaos and mayhem with the same glee, all while weaving engaging, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a different backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady confidence and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the core of people through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and bring our shared bold, visionary style to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
