McKenna's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

"There have been any of those discussions," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland youth international said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my focus is this week.

"I possess a special job here at a remarkable team. And we're at a crucial stage of the campaign. Anything external hasn't touched my awareness."

Background and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about these. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a really big sports organization."

The coach agreed to a new multi-year deal in last year and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he replied. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Ipswich manager forever. I understand that's not always going to be the situation, but I'll always do my best as long as I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

The former striker represented the Hoops on loan from the Magpies in 2005, but the former Wales striker is minded to finish the current World Cup campaign, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently third in their World Cup group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.
